Valentine's Day is a holiday that is loved by some and despised by others. Being single on this holiday can be a bit lonely, especially if everyone around you seems to be in a relationship. In an attempt to make Valentine's Day special, many people struggle to come up with creative date ideas even if they are with a significant other. To ease your mind, I have come up with a list of activities to do on Valentine's Day with your significant other or with your friends to make this holiday a bit more enjoyable.
1. Go Explore Another City
One of my favorite things to do is explore new places. If you're like me, a person who gets bored very easily, sitting down for a fancy dinner isn't the ideal date. Going to a new place, or even just exploring new areas in a city you have been to is the perfect date for adventurous people. If you are from a bustling city, visit a quaint country town or vice versa! Try to immerse yourself in a place that you are unfamiliar with to put an adventurous spin on Valentine's Day.
2. Go on a Hike
This date idea isn't for everyone, but if you like staying active, I would recommend it. This is an excellent choice for those who love exploring the outdoors and also for people on a budget. Hiking is an activity that is free and one of the most convenient. Finding cool places to go hiking is super easy with the endless knowledge the internet provides. Whether you plan on traveling somewhere far away and making a road trip out of it or want hike somewhere close by, you are sure to find a good trail to go on. If you're looking to make it more romantic, you can pack food for a picnic to eat once you reach your destination and enjoy the view.
4. Go Stargazing
This idea is for the more romantic people. Staying up late and looking at the stars is sure to spark a connection. This date idea can also be a good choice for those who are busy during the day but still want to plan something special at night. Go to your favorite spot, put out a blanket, and enjoy the view. To make the occasion extra special, you can put on your favorite playlist, light some candles, and even bring snacks to enjoy.
5. Go to a Museum
If you're someone who has a more exquisite taste for the arts, this is the date for you. I love anything that has to do with art whether it's poetry, paintings, or music, you name it, I am all about it. If you like to take pictures, then this is the perfect date idea for documentation. Museums are not only romantic but also can inspire you. Whenever I go to a museum, I always leave having learned something new and become ready to create my own artwork.
6. Have a Spa Day
It can be hard being single on Valentine's Day, but it can still be a day to celebrate. Get your nails done, make a hair appointment, or even get a massage. I always use this holiday as an excuse to go shopping and treat myself. There are many upsides of being single because you can spend this day focusing only on yourself and doing what makes you happy. Going to the gym and getting a good workout is also something that will make you feel refreshed and renewed. If all else fails, go hang out with your friends and have a night in!
Valentine's Day can be a fun holiday, whether you are single or in a relationship, if you go about it in the right way. Holidays are always an excuse to celebrate however makes you happy. If you have wanted to buy something for a while, treat yourself! If you were thinking about asking someone out, have no fear! Whatever will make your day fabulous, do it because Valentine's Day is about love in all forms including love toward those around you and most importantly, yourself.
