Introduction
I haven’t seen this movie since it came out, so it's been a FAT minute! This movie is basically another version of Grease but in a beach setting. You’re also apart of your favorite movie and become one of the characters. Imagine being stuck in your favorite movie, oh my gosh that would be amazing. Since my favorite genre is horror, I wouldn't want to be apart of that in any way. Anyways, I love the concept of this movie since it involves another era (the 1950s). On the other hand, you can tell the songs are overly auto-tuned, and it bothers me so much. I want more natural music scenes where it's not obvious they recorded this beforehand and that they're NOT lip-syncing.
Character(s)
Dr. Fusion is the butler from Jessie!! He was one of my favorite characters in that show, so it was pretty dang easy to recognize him. Another character I couldn’t NOT notice is Ross Lynch because he looks a lot like Evan Peters from American Horror Story. I realize I always make connections to other things, so y'all are gonna have to deal with it. Mack is my favorite character. She takes everything that doesn’t make sense and makes it KNOWN. Every movie needs that. A character that brings common sense to things that are totally bonkers! I don't necessarily dig Tanner. He doesn't pick up on anything, and whenever things are OBVIOUS his brain farts every time.
Fun Facts
This movie was going to be called “Teen Beach Musical”. I’m so glad they made the choice they did.
Maia Mitchell got a cut during filming that caused her to be in the hospital for 2 days. Very traumatizing!
There were always 2-3 jet skis on stand by so that the main characters didn’t get hurt. Safety first!
There’s a reference to angry birds in the movie when SeaCat is trying to hit an “angry bird” with a slingshot at Big Momma’s.
Take Away
I loved the beginning when Brady joins the two groups in the “battle of the bands”. There’s something that hits different when a guy wears biker, leather clothes. How come girls are always attracted to bad boys? I don’t get it. It’s hard to find a takeaway from this since there’s so much going on. If I had to choose, it’s to not let other people plan your life for you. Whether it be with boys/girls or family members, make sure to do what YOU want to achieve. Never let people get in your way and ESPECIALLY don’t get in your own way.
