The second Republican debate of this election cycle took place last night at the Reagan Library in California, seven candidates took the debate stage yesterday, with many turning in unexpected performances.
Things looked like a debate from the very beginning, and not in a good way. The moderator group for the event lost control of the reigns within the first 30 minutes of the program, which opened the door for heaps of crosstalk and muffled words.
Performance wise, the biggest performances of the night came out of Nikki Haley, Vivek Ramaswamy, and Ron DeSantis. DeSantis has been deemed the “winner” of the evening by Fox News, while his poll numbers continue to flounder.
After the events of the first debate, the stage was set for the serious contenders to come out and make an impact. What the stage wasn’t set for, was the separation that would become apparent among candidates.
News outlets around the country are detailing their interpretations of the night, with many labeling the performances of DeSantis and Haley as winners of the night, while also labeling Ramaswamy as a Loser in this debate.
Fox news released an article detailing their scope, and stated in that article, “with respect, it is time for Mike Pence, Chris Christie (seriously), and Doug Burgum to drop out of the race. Fewer contestants would mean less fighting for air time and less bickering.”
